A is for Artisan
The Angel Inn is the oldest pub in the village deriving its name from the devout, artisan craftsmen who came to build the Holy Trinity Church some 500 years ago.
We want to continue that tradition of passion and skill for one's art, whether it be in the hand riveted table at which you sit, the stone-ground flour in your pastry or the slow roasted coffee, fine wine, craft ale or cider you imbibe.
Please don't ask for big-brand, national or multinational products; if it's not crafted it's not here. Ask the staff to suggest an alternative that ensures the flavour of quality and character are inherent in your 'new usual'.
B is for Bohemian
Don't worry we're not expecting you to turn up in your Kaftan and flip-flops and we're not quite saying anything goes, but we are trying to encourage a slightly more laid back, alternative atmosphere where you can let your hair down, relax and enjoy yourself. We'll be celebrating local artwork too, and if any budding musicians want to help us create that casual, spontaneous vibe by bringing their banjo or tinkling on the piano you are most welcome.
C is for Community
We aim to serve our community and our community to be part of what we are. From our youngest to our oldest, and everyone in between, you should all feel welcome, so please let us know if there is anything we can do to meet your needs.
Likewise, we try to support Norfolk and Suffolk's cottage industries and our local growers or producers. Give us a shout if we've missed you out.
Community is about sharing; please make all visitors feel welcome - slide along there's always room for more.
D is for Down-to-earth and a little bit Daft
E is for the Environment and Ethics
We want to enjoy ourselves; but so do the chickens! All our eggs are free range, our milk is organic, and we are prepared to pay a little more for our meat in order to ensure, that whenever possible, it comes from local farms with the highest standards of animal welfare.
We do our best to cut down the air and road miles and, where ingredients or produce have to come from overseas, they are ethically or fairly traded.
Packaging is reduced to the essential.
F is for Fun
You're here to enjoy yourself, drink and be merry. From pub games to piano playing, there should be something for all and, if the main bar is too rowdy for quiet conversation, or you just want to read a book, try the more tranquil cosiness of the snug.
G is for a Growth-mindset "Large streams from little fountains flow, mighty oaks from tiny acorns grow."
There's no limit to the expectations we set ourselves, our patrons and our staff. We have ambitions to brew our own beer, create our own range of craft produce and re-open the old smokehouse. If you are interested in knowing more or helping us achieve our aims please don't hesitate to ask.
H is for Have-a-go at completing the rest of the alphabet yourself. By the time you get to the letter Q you should have created the Quintessential, traditional, British local Inn!
